MILAN, Feb 24, 2008 / FW/ — Rohka this season went bold and aimed for designing accent pieces for an outfit. Designs were simple and modern at the same time by playing on form and construction. Gathers and cowls accentuated the colorful intergalactic prints while monotone fabrics played with fuller shapes. The bubble dress has transitioned into a form where side seams curve out and create new dimensions.
Prints consist of bleeding dots of color, in black, the images look like that of the milky way or other galaxies and planets. In white the print looks like the transparent glowing colors of the sea creatures at the bottom of the ocean. These prints from both sides of our world are brought together and made earthly in simplistic complimenting designs.
The collection is all about playing with line, form and draping to create something unique and special, yet classic at the same time. Volumes are played with both in the front and back as the designs find ways to make beautiful draping both surprising and simplistic at the same time.
The collection shown floating in a room with large plastic bubbles, took us into a world of no gravity. Like space and the ocean these fabrics are visually weightless by creating forms that seem to go beyond normal gravity. Nothing is solid or stiff and although the designs are modern there is always that weightless flow somewhere in the design.
