Up Close and Personal: Leila Shams Fall 2014

FW14 LEILA SHAMS NEW YORK 2/12/2014Leila Shams’ collection is the epitome of downtown cool. Never boring or minimal, Shams designs for the woman who wants to get noticed.

Inspired by her self-proclaimed failures, Leila Shams reemerges for Fall 2014 with the determination to prevail. She ultimately succeeds by creatively channeling her series of bad luck into her designs.

Notable silhouettes include high collars and necklines meant to shield the face from public scrutiny. Progressing through the collection, the shapes shift to shorter hemlines and dolman sleeves, freeing the form of emblematic restraints. The collection’s standout styles are the sequined track pants, oversized turtleneck sweaters and winged mini dresses.

The heavy colors and fabrics seen at the start of the collection lighten to reveal the sexy, confident woman that Leila is known for dressing. This season’s color palette consists of deep mulberry, moody loden, dark teal and bursts of gold. Fabrication continues to mirror to the mood as Leila effortlessly mixes oversize-chunky knits, enveloping fur and leather into bright sequins and bold jersey fabrics.

Leila Shams’ Fall / Winter 2014 collection will be available at www.leilashams.com as well as select specialty boutiques worldwide in early Fall 2014.
