MILAN, Jun 25, 2012/ — A collection within a collection, the Marni Spring / Summer 2013 “Wild Animals” assortment is a special collaboration between the Milanese fashion house and Dutch artist Rop van Mierlo.
Blotchy shapes of animals – a donkey, a tiger, a parrot and an ostrich which has been created by the artist exclusively for Marni – are printed onto t-shirts.
The subjects are part of van Mierlo’s book Wild Animals, worth a Best Dutch Design Award in 2011. The author describes Wild Animals as “a children’s book that can only be looked in when you’re old enough”. He was fascinated by the idea of creating animals he could not control.
Rop van Mierlo is a graphic artist living and working in Amsterdam.
