NEW YORK, Feb 10, 2004/ FW/ — Fashion week is celebrity watch week. As fashion journos, we usually note down who are the celebrities attending the shows, and write them down as part of the story if a need arises.
From backstage to the front of the house, we usually keep our eyes open just to see who are visiting the tents.
The First Lady Laura Bush is number one on the list with her visit yesterday at the tents. Then, there are Rick and Kathy Hilton of the Hilton Hotels visiting the tents regularly with their daughter Nicky who was also modeled for Raika D.
Ray Liotta, Maya, Ja-Rule, Frederique, Elisabeth Rohm of Law & Order, Miss Teen USA, and Oksana Baiul were all present at the Luca Luca show, together with the Hiltons. Ja-Rule was also present at Maurice Malone, while Sex & The City’s Kristen Davis attended the John Varvatos show.
But the mother lode of celebrities was at the Louis Vuitton store opening that Naomi Campbell, Iman, Antonio Banderas, Melanie Griffith, Star Jones, and a host of other celebrities attended.
Though not officially part of Fashion Week, the Louis Vuitton store opening was highly anticipated at the tents.
Carlos Miele, who was supposed to show Tuesday night, the same time as the store opening postponed his show to Thursday.
So, right after the Narciso Rodriguez show, fashion editors and photographers trekked to 57th Street to attend the party.
