DALLAS, Nov 26, 2009 / FW/ — An American holiday, Thanksgiving is a harvest festival that traces its roots all the way back the 1600s, the first “official” Thanksgiving Day having been held in 1621 at the Plymouth Plantation where the Plymouth settlers held a harvest festival and shared it with the Wampanoag Native American tribe.

Originally a religious holiday because it was being held to thank God for a good harvest, Thanksgiving has evolved into a secular holiday with the purpose of giving thanks in general and sharing with families and friends the blessings of life.

And it is in this context that I am giving thanks to everyone who has supported FashionWindows since its inception in 1997. From the pre-Y2K high to the dot com bust, to the recovery years and then the time of prosperity, and finally the Great Recession, FashionWindows has been able to survive because our audience has stayed with us.

2009 might have been a challenge to everyone, but we should be thankful that all of us are still here celebrating Thanksgiving Day together.

Happy Thanksgiving everyone!
