NEW YORK, Feb 18, 2012/ — “The Hilfigers” – fictional, all-American family made up of eclectic characters on the camping adventure of a lifetime was the theme of the American Express Cardmember-Only runway show with Tommy Hilfiger on Thursday, February 16 at 6:30PM.
With chart topping band Cobra Starship performed live during the show, the event became a music and fashion spectacle adding to the excitement that for the first time ever, the designer’s fashionably fictitious family will come to life on the runway.
“Having the Hilfigers walk while Cobra Starship performs live is a once-in-a-lifetime show,” said Tommy Hilfiger. “Our brand has always been inspired by music so I’m thrilled that when we introduced the Hilfigers in person to our customers for the first time, it was to the backdrop of great music.”
“Personal style and individuality has really influenced our group as a whole since we came together in 2005,” said Gabe Saporta, Cobra Starship frontman. “Our band name actually came from an old, vintage leather jacket I had, so I guess you could say that a piece of fashion has been, and will always be, with us.”
A truly kinetic and captivating live act, Cobra Starship has toured nearly non-stop since their arrival in 2005.The band first exploded onto the charts with their hit single “Good Girls Go Bad,” a Top 40 hit co-penned by Kara DioGuardi which features Gossip Girl actress Leighton Meester.
With their most recent album release, Night Shades, the band is celebrating the blockbuster success of their hit single “You Make Me Feel…” featuring Sabi. The track has been certified double platinum and hit Top 5 at pop radio outlets nationwide. Cobra Starship have just released their second single & video for “Middle Finger” featuring Mac Miller which is also currently working its way up the pop charts.
